In the end, Donald Trump won. C.Rep. Adam Schiff, the most influential candidate in Trump's opposition, brought the former president to the center of his campaign and was the leader of the trip to Sunday's primaries. The sense of panic and fear surrounding Trump has fueled the Senate race between Schiff, Democrats Katie Porter and Barbara Lee and Republican Steve Garvey. Schiff was criticized by Trump allies last summer, and Trump criticized not only Schiff but his Republican supporters. Trump also played right into Schiff's hands, calling the speaker by name in a Social Truth post in mid-February, reminding Democrats of their long feud. In the past, Schiff has used the MAGA policy as a campaign hammer for Garvey, hoping to give him an easy path in November.
